The Cork Independent has been nominated for the third successive year in a row in the news and media category of the Web Awards.
The paper has been recognised for its online content alongside the Irish Times and The Journal, among other publications.
“We are delighted to have been nominated as it shows the work being done by all the team here at the Cork Independent,” said Jarlath Feeney, managing director of the paper.
“The Cork Independent has a strong online presence, coupled with our print paper as well. To be recognised for a third year in a row is a great achievement.”
The 2012 Web Awards are open to all website owners and developers with a wide range of categories. As well as news and media categories there are entertainment, music and sport categories for websites and podcasts from all over Ireland.
The awards are judged by the independent panel who scorecarded each individual site based on design, concept and interactivity. Scorecards on round one and two are available on webawards.ie while the overall and final scorecards will be publicly available after the awards ceremony in the Mansion House in Dublin on 1 November.
