Cork’s biggest charity sale, Spring Clean for Charity will take place in City Hall on Sunday, 14 October and will feature bric-a-brac, trinkets and fashion from all over the country, all in aid of chosen charities Enable Ireland and Cheshire Ireland. If you've been wanting to clear out the house for a while, now's your chance!
Items already donated include a vintage silver chain, a vintage inspired satchel from Urban Outfitters
and vintage earrings sourced at Camden Market, London which were all donated by Anne Meade. Anne is a PhD student from the University of Limerick but originally from Ballinascarthy, Clonakilty.
Anne particularly loves vintage clothes and is really looking forward to the Spring Clean for Charity sale this Sunday.
“Vintage clothing can be used to describe garments between 20 to 100 years old. Luckily for me, my mother hoarded a lot of her wardrobe from the 60s and 70s. She had some amazing leather jackets and costume jewellery. Nowadays I can’t pass markets or second hand shops without popping in for a look. There’s something so exciting about rummaging through old stuff – you never know what gem you’re going to find. One person’s rubbish is always someone else’s treasure. I love mixing old vintage pieces with new contemporary styles. Sometimes it works and sometimes not! The experimental side of such outfits is always fun. I’m really looking forward to the Spring Clean on Sunday 14 October, there’s going to be some amazing bargains to be found!”
To book a stall, simply visit the Spring Clean for Charity website at springcleanforcharity.ie, email help@springcleanforcharity.ie or call Dearbhla on 086-8221751 to register.
If you can’t host a stall don’t worry, you can also donate items that are in saleable condition to William O’Brien at the public storage drop off point in Bishopstown.
Entry to City Hall is just €5 at the door (kids under 12 go free) so why not pop along on Sunday for a fun day of bargain hunting? There will also be a few celebrity guests too.
