Gig of the week:
Dimitri Datus @ Mr Bradleys, Sat 20 Oct, 9pm

Cork ska-influenced Dimitri Datus release their new Ep ‘Sound’ this Saturday in Mr Bradleys on Barrack Street. The trio recorded the five track EP themselves and also produced it. The band describes their own music as a blend of rock, alternative, punk, ska, blues with touches of folk. The EP shows some promise and any band with a track called ‘Nervous Badger’ has to be worth a look!

Comedy of the week:
Colm O’Regan @ City Limits, Sat 20 October, 9pm

Corkman Colm O’Regan plays a gig in the City Limits this week. The former IT project manager has become best known for his Irish Mammies Twitter account, which has over 54,000 followers and provides classic Irish mammy-isms. He has just put out a book based on the wisdom of his Irish mammy. Catch his stand up in the City Limits.

Film of the week:
‘What Richard Did’ @ all good cinemas

The excellent Irish director Lenny Abrahamson’s new film ‘What Richard Did’ is in the is week and reviews have been brilliant. While we haven’t seen it yet, we are looking forward to it. Nuanced, measured and lacking sensationalism, it follows the lives of a group of Dublin teens as they are about to go to college. One, Richard, is a super rich rugby star but his own insecurities cause disaster. Reports suggest that Abrahamson has created a worthy follow up to ‘Adam and Paul’ and ‘Garage’.
