Gardaí are investigating a fatal crash which occurred in Ballincollig yesterday afternoon. A man in his thirties, who is believed to be from the local area, was killed when the motorcycle he was travelling on collided with a car. The crash happened near Dripsey at around 1.45pm. The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the two occupants of the car were uninjured in the collision. Gardaí are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Ballincollig Garda Station on 021-4214680.
Meanwhile there was tragedy yesterday in Tuam, Co. Galway when a two year old girl and her 12 week old sister were killed after they were knocked down by a car at about 1.45pm yesterday. Katie Gilmore and her younger sister Grace were out walking with their father John on the hard shoulder of the N17 on the outskirts of Tuam when they were struck by the car. Two ambulances attended the scene but the sisters were pronounced dead a short time later. Mr Gilmore and the driver of the car were brought to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
