In a break with tradition, the Mayor of San Francisco is to be Cork's Grand Marshal at this year's St Patrick's Day Parade.
San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee accepted the invitation from it's sister city, Cork, to attend the celebration which is expected to draw over 80,000 people into the city for the weekend. Mayor Lee is the first Asian\American Mayor
of the Calafornian city.
Lord Mayor Cllr John Buttimer was very enthusiastic about the news. "We are delighted to celebrate our national holiday with Mayor Lee, particularly with this being the year of the Gathering."
