The Cork Midsummer Festival features a host of interesting visual art projects. One of the highlights should be ‘Hungry Tea’, a collaborative project between Cork-based Creative Connections, a two-year intercultural project for Cork women and award-winning British artist Mark Storor.

Hungry Tea is a site-specific series of performances about stories, secrets, beauty, laughter and desolate places.

Creative Connections is a 2 year intercultural project for Cork women by Mayfield Arts Newbury House and Cork Midsummer Festival.  In the past year they have been produced a number of events, a book and 18 workshops.

‘Hungry Tea’ takes place at 22 Watercourse Road, Blackpool from Thursday 28– Saturday 30 June. Times vary so check www.corkmidsummer.com. Tickets are free.

Other highlights include ‘Drift’, a live sound art performance on the water of Horseshoe Bay in Sherkin Island. Artist Mark Garry and jazz musician and composer Seán Carpio, have created a unique outdoor visual and auditory experience. Mark has worked with a boat builder based on Sherkin Island to transform a sailboat into a floating Aeolian wind harp.

This 40 minute performance takes place in Horseshoe Bay on Sherkin Island between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm on Saturday 30 June. Access to this performance will be by a specific ‘Drift’ ferry only and audience numbers are limited.

All booking for this event must be done through the Cork Midsummer Festival booking office. RSVP to tickets@corkmidsummer.com or purchase online.  Drift take place on Saturday 30 June at 7pm. See www.corkmidsummer.com for details. Tickets are free, but tickets for the ferry are €10.

Paul Gregg’s ‘Inductive Probability’ at the Triskel runs until Friday 29 July and is also worth a look.
