Engineering and the food industry aren't occupations that most of us would associate. However, given the tough jobs market of today, many are branching in to new areas in a bid to get ahead of the rest.

Noel O'Neill is a qualified civil engineer who, up until two years ago, was working with Flemings Construction Company.

Times changed and Noel found himself moving away from the engineering trade and he has recently entered into a partnership with Ger Harte, who has 30 years experience in the catering industry. The two have set up Georgie's Café which is located at 3, George's Quay, just off the South Mall.

In a strange twist of fate, Noel originally developed the site at George's Quay where the café is located when he worked with Flemings.

Noel and Ger pride themselves on the fresh produce they sell to their loyal customers. The food is sourced locally from West Cork, and ranges from home cooked hams and freshly baked bread to delicious cakes for anyone with a sweet tooth. There are daily combination specials available at lunch time including soup, sandwiches and coffee and scone combinations. As well as that, there is the option of dining in or taking food away for anyone who is in a rush.

It isn't just the food at Georgie's café that keeps customers coming back but the warm and friendly atmosphere in the café. Staff are on hand to serve efficiently and a friendly smile is always guaranteed with every meal served.

When they started the business, Noel and Ger aimed to create a rewarding dining experience that combined great food at affordable prices, which they have achieved and more. If you are looking for a tasty meal, at a cheap price in attractive surroundings, your best bet is Georgie's Café.

Georgie's Café is open from 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday and from 9am - 4pm on Saturdays.
