Former stars inducted into Hall of Fame

In this the second year of the scheme 4 former stars became the latest inductees into the Bord Gais Network’s Cork Camogie Hall of Fame at a pleasant function in the Rochestown Park Hotel recently.

The quartet between them have amassed a total of 28 All-Ireland senior medals along with a host of county c’ship medals and several individual honours throughout their glittering careers.

It is only fitting then that Sandy Fitzgibbon Glen Rovers, Mary O’Leary Watergrasshill, Collette O’Mahoney St Finbarrs and Cathy Landers Harnedy Killeagh should be duly honoured.

Margaret Lane, Director of Corporate Sevices Bord Gais Networks paid tribute to the recipients on their awards in recognition of the wonderful enjoyment they brought to the game for both club and county, and it also Bord Gais ways of continuing their support for camogie in Cork.

Marion McCarthy, Chairperson of the Cork Camogie Board also congratulated the recipients who along with been outstanding players were wonderful ambassadors for the county, Marion also paid tribute to the judging panel of Mary Moran, Nora Newman and Sile Golden for their work, while acknowledging the continuing and fabulous support from Bord Gais.

The function was attended by the Officers of the Cork Camogie Board while Bord Gais employees Cork footballers Daniel Goulding and Graham Canty were also present.
