Cork City Council has said it does not expect flooding to occur tonight.

In a statement, the Council said:

"The Cork City Flood Assessment Team has been monitoring weather and river levels throughout the day. While some further rain is forecast for the early hours of Friday morning 29th June 2012 it is not considered to be of sufficient levels to cause further flooding. In addition predicted tidal levels should not give rise for concern.

"Cork City Council continues to work in the areas worst affected by this morning’s flooding in co-operation with local agencies and emergency services.

"A joint emergency response number 021-4208000  in operation for members of the public to cover both Cork County and Cork City until 22.00 hrs tonight."
