The Grain Store at Ballymaloe will present the Irish premiere of the multi-million selling non-fiction book ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ by the American writer Mitch Albom. The theatrical version is written by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom and gained great reviews in New York.

‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ now arrives on stage in Ireland for the first time. It’s the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, a successful sports journalist driven solely by his career and professional ambitions, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after his graduation Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a TV news programme and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s disease. Mitch is re-united with Morrie and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage, and a last class in the meaning of life.

Terry Byrne and Andrew Murray star in this adaptation of the emotional rollercoaster.

Breda Cashe was the co-producer of ‘The Field’ by John B Keane starring Brian Dennehy, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ which transferred to London’s West End, ‘Stones in his Pockets’ and ‘Alone It Stands’.

‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ is on at The Grain Store at Ballymaloe in Shanagarry from Tuesday 31 July to Sunday 5 August at 8.30pm. Tickets for the show are €20 or €65 for dinner and theatre. Book on 021-4501673 or check thegrainstoreatballymaloe.com.
