Eircom dials up 100 new Opel Astra vans
Opel Ireland has launched a commercial variant of its successful Astra five-door hatchback.
The first major fleet of new Opel Astra five-door Vans has been supplied to Eircom.
Eircom will use the fleet of over 100 vehicles for their team of field engineers. The deal is designed to reduce operational costs on transport in addition to meeting government legislated health and safety criteria (Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005). It brings the number of Opel vehicles on Eircom’s fleet to almost 650.
The Astra Van, says Opel, combines many of the same features as the passenger version including German design and engineering, sporty styling, ergonomic cabin and frugal and diesel engine.
Recommended retail prices start at €16,538 excluding VAT and the van is available in two options; the S and SC trims.
It features a 1.3CDTi (95hp) or a 1.7CDTi engine with 125hp returning an impressive 4.5l/100km combined fuel consumption, with CO2 emissions of only 119g/km. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is standard.
The van has five doors; the rear side doors provide access to the load area which, in turn, has a steel mesh bulkhead as standard as well as load lashing eyes to ensure the high levels of safety for the driver and passenger.
It is available with a range of options that include Satellite Navigation, Bluetooth, Parking Distance Sensors and a USB Plug-In on SC models.
