Sobe fragrant

Cult Cork salon Sobe Brown has a new offering in the shape of a destination nail and beauty bar, located in-house at the former premises of New York Nails. The Nail & Beauty Bar @ Sobe Brown opened this week, featuring OPI Shellac, Gelish and Bio Nails. 

Well-known make-up artists Kate Noonan, Claire Leamy, Jen Keating and Liz McCarthy will be available by appointment at the space. 

The new aspect of the business will also include a fragrance counter with hit London brand Miller Harris making its first Irish appearance outside of Dublin, where it is stocked in Space NK and Arnotts. 

Based in Covent Garden, the brand features natural fragrances most comparable to Jo Malone or L'Occitane, says owner Pamela Morrissey:

"The notes are very distinct in them and they adapt to your own body. My favourite, La Fumée, is a very sensual fragrance and very attractive to the opposite sex, it's a soft musky, sexy, smell." 

The nail bar will offer customised manicures and pedicures with an array of options to suit all needs. A basic file, polish & soak, can be added to with customised elements for €3 or €5 according to the client's needs, with set specials also available. 

"A lot of people don't like their cuticles cut, but it is mandatory with most pedicure," explains Pamela.

"We asked our clients and they'd like to choose a scrub, a skin removal, or an oil soak rather than having the whole procedure. So that's available for both manicure and pedicure. We're allowing people to choose for themselves and pay accordingly, so you're not paying for a cuticle cut when you didn't get one."

Sobe Brown is open on Tuesday - Saturday, with opening hours of 9am - 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and late opening until 9pm on Thursday and Friday. See www.sobebrown.com to book.
