The final day of the Laya Healthcare Street Performance World Championships (LHSPWC) takes place today in Fitzgerald's Park.

The day's events begin at midday and runs until 7pm tonight with five stages of the weird, the wacky and the wonderful on offer throughout the park.

The winner of the Foróige, LHSPWC and the Cork Independent's Poster Competition, sponsored by Bord Gáis Energy, will be presented with their award for their coming in first place in the recent competition run by the paper at 2.30 by Space Cowboy. Kanturk Foróige won the competition for their poster celebrating eight years in existence.

The entire festival is free of charge to the public and features performances from the Space Cowboy, Cirque No Problem, The Lizardman and Irish act Hakuna Matata along with many many more.

While the entrance to the festival is free, organisers have urged patrons to give what they can to acts and performances that they particularly like when "the hat" is passed around.

Laya Healthcare have also set up a family friendly zone within the park where parents and kids can relax on the grass, chill out to the Maynooth Gospel Choir or grab a family photo in the photobooth.
