Luke O'Farrell was the star man in Thurles last Saturday evening for the Cork hurlers finishing the game with 2-2 whilst he also won the penalty which goalkeeper Anthony Nash buried to the back of the net. O'Farrell, who plays his club hurling with Midleton, was Cork's Man of the Match in the Phase III qualifier and as a result he was named on the GAA Team of the Week along with wing forward Niall McCarthy who finished the game with four points from play. The final score in the match was 3-24 to 2-17.

The Rebels have managed to avoid Kilkenny in the quarter finals and will play Munster runners-up Waterford in Thurles on Sunday 29 July while Limerick will play Kilkenny on the same day after they managed to overcome Clare on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-20. Cork will more than likely be without Christopher Joyce who broke his thumb in training last week and is not expected to be fit in time for the match. The centre back was due to start in the number six position but was replaced by Eoin Cadogan with William Egan coming in to the side at wing back. Photo: Stephen McCarthy/Sportsfile
