O'Connor's Seafood Restaurant, a famous destination seafood restaurant recommended in all of the major food guides including Taste of Ireland and Michelin, has re-opened in the beautiful West Cork town of Bantry. Former Head Chef Pat Kiely has returned as the owner, reassembling the team that made O'Connor's 'Seafood Restaurant of the Year' in 2009.

In 2012 the restaurant won the following awards; Lucinda O'Sullivan Great Places to Eat, Good Food Ireland, BIM, Georgina Campbell and Taste of Ireland. They were also finalists in Best Restaurant and Best Chef by the Restaurant Association of Ireland.

The restaurant, which has been re-painted on the outside is now brighter and easier to spot from across the square, while the inside is pretty much the same - soothing creams and browns, very stylish chairs and leather booths, and handsome granite-topped tables. The famous lobster tank is back, and the menu really is a seafood lover's delight.

Pat is master of the kitchen at O'Connors with the help of manager Bernie O’Sullivan and the O’Connors team.

There are specials on the board every lunchtime and evening. Typically, there is hake, fish and chips two ways and monkfish on a smoked venison risotto - a really special fish dish.

The prices are certainly lower than under its previous incarnation, with the house speciality mussels coming in at a very reasonable €8.50 for a starter or €16.50 for a main course, and half a dozen oysters for only €9.00.

This is one of Ireland's best seafood restaurants. For excellent food in a picturesque setting at very good value for money, it is hard to beat.

For the winter, O'Connors Seafood Restaurant is open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm-9pm and is also open for lunch on Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 12.30pm - 3pm.

For reservations call Pat on 087-7887565, or the restaurant on 027-55664.
