The Farmgate Restaurant in the English Market is an award-winning family run dining establishment that has been attracting both tourists and locals alike for years.

The balcony is the ideal place to dine and the seating overlooks the stalls and fountain below. Their exquisite menu is written up daily on the blackboard and hungry visitors can choose from a wide range of soups, handcut sandwiches and attractive cakes. You can also choose the dining room at Farmgate Cafe which offers table service and their speciality dishes are written up on the blackboard daily. For the early risers, they also serve breakfast from 8am in the morning with delicious fresh soda bread, scone and pastries and they also serve porridge, granola and seasonable fruit.

Run by Kay Harte, there is also a Farmgate restaurant operating in Midleton which is run by her sister, Marog which is equally as popular. The fresh food produce that served up by Kay and her dedicated team of staff is second to none and coupled with the fine ambience makes this a must see for anyone who likes their food. They have one of the country's best food markets underneath them and the quality of dishes they serve highlights the importance of the English Market to restaurants all over Cork City.
