Chipping good news

Fans of the famous fast food from Douglas can rest easy from tonight onwards.

KC and Sons chipper, which was devastated by floods over four weeks ago in the Douglas area, will reopen this evening much to the delight of the Cork public.

The famous chip shop first opened its doors in 1958 and has remained a constant presence for the ever interested customer base since. This year it was included on the prestigious Bridgestone Guide.

The online reaction to the tempting comment on the KC's Facebook page, "Don't make any plans for Monday evening" shows the high regard the Cork public attaches to the establishment, which saw several freezers and cookers put beyond use after flood waters wrecked havoc in the city suburb.

Sober Lane bar in Cork city donated the proceeds of a charity lunchtime to the renovations of KC's recently, as the Cork business community began to rally following the recent floods in the city and county.

Office commentators in the Cork Independent confidently predicted that queues would be "out the gap this evening," finally returning Douglas to some sense of normal times.

KC's will open at 5pm this afternoon.
