Fun for all the family in Rosscarbery
The 57th annual Rosscarbery Family Festival will take place from 10 - 20 August in West Cork. Steve Redmond, who is the first person in the world to complete the Oceans 7 Challenge, will officially open the festival on Sunday 12 August.
During the festival there will be activities to entertain all the family. All of the old favourites continue to feature with pig racing, mouse racing, pavement art, dog show, Beat on the Street, children's art and craft and much much more! The ever popular sandcastle and sand sculpture competition takes place on Wednesday 15 August at the Warren Beach. Other highlights are the pub singing competition and the Monster Rag Parade.
The Family Festival is organised by representatives from the Rosscarbery Rowing Club and Rosscarbery Tidy Towns. The proceeds from the Festival go straight back into the local community to help fund various projects. Over the years the festival has contributed towards many worthwhile projects including, the playground, pitch and putt club, GAA pitch Newtown and the new lighting on the Causeway to name but a few.
The Festival kicks off on Friday 10 August with an art exhibition at Doswell Gallery and Mouse Racing at O'Brien's Bar. The official opening of the Rosscarbery Family Festival by Steve Redmond with open air music will take place from 7.30pm in the Square on Sunday evening 12 August. For the full programme of events visit www.rosscarbery.ie or check out the Rosscarbery Family Festival facebook page. The festival programme will be distributed throughout the West Cork area.
