Hit play hits Cork again!
The ever-popular 'Over the Bar' returns to the Cork Arts Theatre next Wednesday at 8pm.
Cork Arts Theatre’s most successful play ever will return next week. Written by Tom Dudzick, ‘Over The Pub’ returns to Cork Arts Theatre next Wednesday and runs until Saturday 1 September.
This beguiling family comedy has been adapted by director Dolores Mannion from the original play 'Over the Tavern’. ‘Over The Pub’ played to packed houses every night of its run a few years ago, beating all box office records since the Cork Arts Theatre opened its doors in 1976.
Set in Cork in 1963, this hilarious adaptation features Pat and Ellen Murphy who live above their pub with their four children, aged 12 to 16. Each offspring is hell-bent on making mischief and creating havoc.
Toss in a septuagenarian nun who is devilish with a ruler, everyone’s concerns about faith and sex and family relations, and it’s a hilarious feast. The Murphy’s are real people with real problems.
Tom Dudzick is a renowned American playwright and has been referred to by critics as ‘the Catholic Neil Simon’.
‘Over The Pub’ stars some of Cork's most notable actors including Fionnuala Linehan, Gerry Conway, Martina Carroll and Michael Barry.
Tickets are on sale now for ‘Over The Pub’. Opening week tickets 15 - 18 August are only €10. Tickets for the main run are €15/ €12 or a group rate of €10 for 10 people. Ring the box office 021-4505624. Performances nightly at 8pm.
