Gig of the week:

Jamie Behan and Warren Knowles @ The Audio Room Fri 10 Aug at 11pm.

Bastardo Electrico bring some of Cork’s best to a new club called The Audio Room. The club is on St Augustine Street and entrance is through the alley beside The Classic Bar. In the main room, Cork's premier techno heads Jamie Behan and Warren Knowles, headline. Cork producer Puca supports. Out on the terrace Sister Dot and Mucca will be keeping things deep and funky. It should be a good night and nice to see a new nightclub appearing in Cork.

Comedy of the week:

Karl Spain @ City Limits, Sat 11 Aug, 9pm

One of the most likeable comics in Ireland plays the City Limits this week. Karl Spain's comedy show is based on his life and loves and growing up in Ireland over the last thirty years. His hangdog persona suits his tales of woe and embarrassment perfectly. If you’ve seen his RTÉ series 'Karl Spain Wants a Woman' and called 'Karl Spain wants to Rock', you will have an idea of what to expect.

Film of the week:

Black Sun Cinema @ Triskel, Sun 12 Aug, 1.30pm

Black Sun presents its first ever all-film event this Sunday in partnership with Triskel Christchurch. Adventurous audiences with a taste for the more far-out side of experimental cinema will be treated to a whole afternoon of dreamlike and hauntingly unsettling avant-garde visions. There will be three programmes. The first comprises Irish underground shorts, the second features films by Frans Zwartjes and the third programme is James Fotopoulos’ ‘The Nest’. Expect this to be pretty out there!
