With each new season, comes a host of new fashion trends which we all feel obliged to incorporate into our wardrobe. However, not all of these new trends, patterns and shapes suit every body shape. Confidence is always the key to looking good so feeling comfortable in our clothes far outweighs the importance of embracing the latest fashion fads! Littlewoods Ireland is a firm believer in ‘dressing for your shape’ and has picked out the season’s must-have pieces suitable for each different body shape.

Hourglass

Blessed with curves in all the right places, the tailored look for AW suits the hourglass shape perfectly. Pencil skirts look great on hourglass ladies and are ideal for the office– embrace your animalistic side with the South Animal Print Pencil Skirt, €39.

Apple

The swinging 60s are back with a bang in the fashion world and the simple 60s style is perfect for apple shapes, with swing and shift dresses that will skim your tummy area. Go monochrome in the South Three Quarter Sleeve Tunic Dress, €47, with flared sleeves to help balance your shape.

Pear

If you are pear shaped, focus on drawing attention to your upper half and balancing out your shape. AW12 embraces opulent and luxurious fabrics like lace, velvet and metallics. The Lipsy Lace Two-in-One Dress, €60 is perfect for pear shaped ladies, as its fitted top half shows off your smaller upper body while the skater-style skirt will disguise problem areas like the hips and thighs.

Rectangular

If you have a rectangular, athletic shape, use structure to create curves and add definition to your body. Dresses with clinched waists are the easiest way to create a feminine silhouette – the Jameela Jamil Spotted Prom Dress, €89 will show off your shoulders and arms while its structured midriff will give your waist definition.

Strawberry

With wide shoulders and a narrow waist and hips, the key to dressing for a strawberry body shape is achieving balance in your silhouette. Skater style dresses and skirts will create a more proportioned lower half while also showing off your slim legs – the embellishment on the Coleen Embellished Vintage Skater Dress, €89 will compliment your defined shoulders and highlight your small waistline, with its flared skater skirt balancing out your figure.
