Cork couple arrested in Spanish drugs bust
Three Irish people, including a couple from Cork, have been arrested by Spanish police. The arrests followed the seizure of drugs worth €6m which were on board an Irish yacht off the Spanish coast.
The man is thought to be in his fifties and is from Cork city, while the woman is also in her fifties and is believed to be a well known business woman from Carrigaline with interests in Marbella.
The pair were arrested and detained along with the other Irish man after the Spanish police boarded the boat at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.
The cannabis, which weighed 500 kilos, is thought to have originated in Morocco. Gardaí are currently liaising with the Spanish authorities in relation to the three suspects who are currently being questioned about the drugs bust.
