The Audi quattro Cup Final held in Killarney Golf Club on 30 August was won by Brian McCarthy and Bill McGarry from Cork. The pair won the 22nd final of the prestigious golf competition by three points with a total score of 47 points, narrowly beating Peter Cahill and Kevin Smith who finished with a total of 44 points and Ian Pericho and Anthony Daly who carded 43 points.

McCarthy and McGarry will now represent Ireland in the world final of the Audi quattro Cup which will be held at Arabella Golf Club, Western Cape Province, South Africa in November. This year saw over 280 Audi customers and their guests compete in the regional heats which were played out on some of Ireland's most prestigious golf courses and the top six teams in each heat then qualified for the final in Killarney Golf Club.

The Audi quattro cup is now over 20 years old and has seen in excess of one million Audi customers participate all over the world in the last tow decades. This year almost 90,000 golfers will play in 760 tournaments in 52 countries all over the globe. The competition has come a long way since German Audi dealers organised an event for 6,000 golfers playing 51 tournaments back in 1991.

"As a result of success by Irish golfers on an international stage, Ireland has cemented its' reputation as one of the greatest golfing destinations in the world and we are delighted to be in a position to reward our loyal customers with the opportunity to play on some of the country's best courses," said Andrew Doyle, managing director of Audi Ireland.

"The Audi quattro Cup has grown exponentially since 1991 to become one of the biggest participation amateur golf tournaments in the world, spanning over 50 countries and almost 90,000 golfers. I am delighted to be able to reward our loyal Audi customers and it's a testament to them that the competition grows from strength to strength each year."
