The Irish office of certification company, DQS UL, has been opened in Cork which will create between 15 and 20 jobs, five of which will be full time.

The expansion into Ireland is expected to have huge benefits for companies based in Ireland who are currently sourcing their management systems certification from outside of the State. Now they will have a world recognised and renowned resource on their doorsteps, with direct links into almost every territory in the world. As the business community in Ireland looks globally for more opportunities, it is hoped that having a leading world brand like DQS based in Ireland can open up new markets and opportunities.

“DQS’s presence in Ireland sends a positive message to the people of Ireland and to other foreign businesses looking for new markets to enter,” said main auditor at DQS, Ronan Murphy.

“With the professional services being offered by DQS, not only will they help Irish businesses to become more efficient and competitive both in the domestic and international market places, but they are also providing well needed employment. On a personal basis, by providing me with employment, I no longer need to consider emigrating to look for work in order to provide for myself and my family.”

Minister of State for Research and Innovation, and Cork East TD, Seán Sherlock, launched the new office highlighting it as another examples of the Government’s approach to jobs.

“Job creation and expansion of global companies into Ireland reflect the forward momentum of the Government's Action Plan for Jobs,” said Mr Sherlock.

“Companies like DQS who are trying to create a bigger market for Ireland rather than taking a share of the market, boost industry here at home. Recognised certification of industry standards, as provided by DQS, can only work to reinforce Ireland's reputation nationally and globally as we strive to advance economically, and place ourselves as market competitors across all sectors of industry.”
