There has been no further update in the case of a man who died in suspicious circumstances on Friday in Bantry. The 53 year old, who has not yet been named, was discovered outside Bantry town on wasteland at 5.20pm and was pronounced dead at the scene by a local doctor. It is thought that the man suffered serious head injuries but results of the post mortem have not been made public for operational reasons.

A man in his seventies was arrested shortly afterwards and taken to Bantry Garda Station but he was released without charge on Sunday morning.
