It was only six weeks ago that the Cork Independent interviewed Jason Sullivan from Kanturk about his viral internet sensation 'Sminky Shorts' and already the 2nd year multi media student at CIT has been signed up to the prestigious United Agents, a literary and talent agency based in London whose client list includes Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Sophie Dahl and Clive James.

"I was really shocked when they contacted me a few weeks ago and they said they really liked my animated shorts that I had put up and they wanted to meet me to discuss representation. I met the agents in Dublin about two weeks ago and I signed a contract with them where they will represent me to broadcasters and other media outlets, " said Jason.

"What's great about being signed to United Agents is that they also represent Simon Toefield, the animator behind 'Simon's Cat' which I'm a huge fan of and he has had incredible success with his work including his own books, games and comic strips."

While Jason returns to college next week he is still putting a lot of work into his latest creations and has written a few before his work load at college commences.

"It's been a phenomenal summer to be honest, I mean the Sminky Shorts are only up on the internet since the end of May and already it has received 3.9 million hits which is unreal and some of the phrases are becoming so well known not just in Cork but around the world. Being signed up to such a great agency is amazing and although it's early days yet, hopefully something great will come out of it."

Devoted fans of Jason's Sminky Shorts could be in for a treat this Saturday 22 September as he plans to showcase a new short at The Pavilion to celebrate the first birthday of The Crucial Party Club night.

"They asked me to preview one of my new shorts as well as screen the best of my other shorts and I'm still editing one at the moment so hopefully the audience will love it."
