What does your business offer?

We offer free consultation and advice to people wishing to shop in the financial services industry and under the one roof. HFS have over 20 years experience and are financial planning partners with Irish Life who themselves have a wealth of experience and tradition in the business. Our products include life cover, mortgage protection, serious illness cover, accident cover, hospital cover, income protection, pensions, regular savings and lump sum investments. 

Your unique selling point? 

Our absolute commitment to customer service. We provide an annual review to our clients to update them on what products they have with us and to show them any new products which may be brought to market. This gives them the opportunity to browse through the shop window without any pressure to purchase, just relaxed discussions yielding friendly and professional advice in comfortable surroundings.We can call to you or you call to us,whatever suits you, day or night.

Why did you get into this area?

My father Jim has built up this business over the last 20 years and it was always a goal of mine to get involved and help drive the business forward. I have worked in the industry since 1998 and moved to HFS in 2006. I like meeting and talking to people and I take great pride in helping people make right and careful decisions when spending in our business.

How do you balance running a business and your life? 

It can be difficult, even more so with two young daughters aged two years and eight months. It can be tough coming home from a night appointment not seeing the girls before they go to bed but I have a very understanding wife who supports me 100per cent. For me ,effective time management is key. The diary is my bible!

What do you do to unwind? 

When you run your own business it can be very hard to unwind, however I do feel it is important to switch off every now and then. I love spending time with my wife and best friend Julie and my two girls, they make me laugh! Particularly if i’ve had a bad day. I am also a sports fanantic so this too helps me unwind.

What do you think is special about doing business in Cork? 

For me its the Cork banter! The Corkonian wit is second to none.

Where do you see yourself in five years? 

Still ensuring that all customers of HFS are getting the best service they deserve. To increase our workforce so that our customers will continue to benefit from our commitment to them. The advent of the financial services industry will encourage us to meet the challenge and offer the value and service of ‘shopping under one roof’ to all our customers.
