30 jobs for Cork

30 jobs are to be created in Cork after American company Hittite Microwave Corporation confirmed they are to establish two operations in the region.

The investment is being supported by the Government through IDA Ireland. HMC is to establish 19 jobs in the company’s research and development facility while 11 jobs will be created at the company’s new international operations centre in the region.

Hittite Microwave which designs and manufactures high frequency, analog and mixed signal electronics components. The products that will be designed at the Cork facility will be high performance components for use in telecommunications and sensor systems across a variety of applications.

"This is an innovative US semiconductor company deciding that Cork is the place to carry out very significant research activities due to the presence of high-end research institutes and the availability of talent," said Minister for Jobs, Richard Bruton.

The move was also welcomed by Cork Chamber Chief Executive Conor Healy.

“Cork Chamber is delighted with Hittite’s decision to further invest in Cork,” said Mr Healy.

“The decision provides a positive and welcome boost to the region and adds to the already significant level of investment in the technology sector.  It further substantiates the strength of the Cork region as a location of choice for industry requiring high skills levels and a positive business environment.”
