Aslan celebrate 30 years with Oliver Plunkett gig
Every month the Oliver Plunkett hosts a famous Irish artist and this month it is the long-running Dublin band, Aslan. The Oliver Plunkett also hosts a myriad of Cork bands and singers who get to promote themselves as well.
Aslan are celebrating 30 years on stage, an incredible length of time for any band, bar The Rolling Stones! Their career has included defining hits such as 'Crazy World', 'This Is' and 'She's So Beautiful'.
The band is currently gearing up for the release of their brand new studio album on EMI Records this year. Entitled ‘Nudie Books and Frenchies’, the album title is a tongue-in-cheek, nostalgic nod to their teenage years.
Aslan have also been busy wrapping up production on a documentary which chronicles the adventures of the band from 1982 to present day. This will be screened and released in 2012.
Fronted by the enigmatic Christy Dignam, Aslan released their debut single in 1986. In 1987, Aslan released their debut album, 'Feel No Shame'. Their domestic profile continued to rise through the '90s, establishing them as one of Ireland's most successful acts.
Aslan play The Oliver Plunkett (upstairs) on Saturday 28 April at 8pm. Tickets are available online at www.theoliverplunkett.com and behind the bar. Tickets are €15.
