Cork company Martin Scaffolding has been awarded the highest A Grade in the Safe-T-Cert certification for the third year running.

The certification, which was developed by the construction industry, is a safety management accreditation system that ensures companies meet health and safety requirements in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The course takes account of best practice guidelines of national and international bodies and offers companies who complete the programme an extra incentive through free promotion on the Safe T Cert website and the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) directory of services.

“The achievement of an A grade three years in a row shows real commitment to improving safety and ongoing consistency in its implementation – this is what Safe-T-Cert was set up to recognise; commitment to continual improvement,” said Dermot Carey, Head of Safety Services for the Construction Industry Federation.

“Holding this certification is a clear demonstration to clients that the company meets the highest standards of safety management and consequently clients can have peace of mind that their (clients) legal obligations have been met.”

Martin Scaffolding was set up 25 years ago next year and maintains a wide range of clients in the Cork region.

“Our business is built on long-term client relationships, high standard of quality, safety and service, and this award is testament to our hard work and experience in the industry,” said Dick Martin, company founder and director.

According to the CIF, the construction industry has been hit hard by the economic downturn, with output falling from €38.6 billion in 2006 to €9.2 billion in 2011 and the level of direct construction employment has fallen from 269,900 in 2007 to 107,600 at the end of 2011. To find out more about Martin Scaffolding, visit www.martinscaffolding.ie
