Cork Summer Show cancelled
The first two days of the Cork Summer Show have been cancelled due to torrential rain and gale force winds disrupting the event this weekend.
The agricultural show, which is marking 171 years this year, and is the oldest in the country, was forced to postpone events today and confirmed that tomorrow would also suffer.
Events due to take place tomorrow will now take place on Sunday from 8.30am to 6pm, along with Sunday's programme.
However some events have been cancelled, including the Inter School Showing Jumping, the Primary and Secondary School Show Jumping and the Pony Club Games. The Interschool Showjumping competition has been moved to 30 June.
Events due to take place today have also been cancelled.
Met Éireann confirmed that the weekend is due to see strong gales and heavy rain on Saturday but it is expected to calm on Sunday, leaving a gap in the storms for the agricultural show in Curraheen to proceed.
