Cork’s incredible string band

Category: Set List
Folk and pop have been combined before to very mixed effect but one Cork-based quartet are doing it with excellent results. The Mandolas released their debut back in April and have been busy touring the country ever since.  Eschewing a rhythm section, the band simply use four string instruments, normally two acoustic guitars, mandolin and mandola. This love for stringed instruments is accentuated by their additional use of bouzuki, banjo and viola. But who needs drums or bass when you have soaring vocals, four-part harmonies and beguiling folk-pop tunes as good as the Mandolas’ songs? All four can sing and they use their voices to weave subtle, lovely folk-style]]>
