Toddler Zac is back on Leeside

Zac Higgins will return to Cork today having spent more than two months recovering in Dublin.

The toddler, who suffered a serious brain injury when he was the victim of a hit and run in March, will be transferred to CUH where he will be closer to family and friends.

It has been reported that Zac is now able to walk and no longer requires a feeding tube, however a long road to recovery still lies ahead.

Following the initial incident, Zac was immediately rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin where he was later diagnosed with a DAI brain injury.

The Zac Higgins Appeal Fund GoFundMe page has so far gathered just under €47,000 of its overall goal of €75,000.

Mahon Point Shopping Centre will be holding a fundraising event for Zac on Saturday 25 May 2019, kicking off at 12pm.

Activities will include a spin-a-thon, a strength testing game, an electric buzzer game, arts & crafts, a bumper raffle and face painting.

All funds raised will go towards Zac’s continued recovery and medical costs.
