Success for Carmel O'Keeffe

The founder of Dress for Success Cork, Carmel O’Keeffe has been named Cork Person of the Month for May. The award is to mark her contribution to the organisation since she established it in 2013.

Dress for Success Cork is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides women with a network of support, professional attire and developmental tools to help women achieve economic independence, all at no cost to the client. The original Dress for Success branch was founded in 1997 by New York law graduate, Nancy Lublin.

Since the founding of the Cork Dress for Success branch, the organisation has helped over eight hundred women achieve workplace success, with over 500 transitioning on to paid employment.

Speaking at the award ceremony Carmel said: “At Dress for Success Cork, we are so grateful for the continuous support of the people of Cork. This award recognises both a team and a county that is committed to creating an equal opportunities society.”

Carmel’s name will go forward for possible selection as the Cork Person of the Year at a gala awards lunch to be held in Rochestown Park Hotel next year.
