Child, 2, dies after being found critically injured
A two year old girl who was found this morning with serious injuries at an apartment in Cork city has died.
Emergency services were called to an apartment at Elderwood Park in the Boreenmanna Road area of Ballinlough at approximately 5.18am.
The infant girl was removed with serious injuries to Cork University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí are currently carrying out door to door enquiries in the Elderwood apartment complex on Boreenmanna Road and the surrounding area and are appealing to any person who was in the Elderwood apartment complex between 4pm yesterday and 6am today who has not already spoken to gardaí to come forward.

Speaking to the Cork Independent, local city councillor Terry Shannon said: “It's a quiet part of the city and this is a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the family.”
An incident room has been established at Anglesea Street Garda Station and a technical examination of the apartment was carried out this morning by crime scene examiners from Cork city.
The post mortem will take place this afternoon under Deputy State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster. The results of a post mortem will determine the course of the garda investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
