Cologne orchestra hits the right note
A renowned German orchestra is set to play a special concert in Cork next week.
The Chamber Philharmonia Cologne is set to perform in the haunting surrounds of St Finbarre’s Cathedral on Wednesday 14 August.
The orchestra will perform a hand-picked set of popular and unknown works from a range of musical eras including from the likes of Antonio Vivaldi, WA Mozart, Niccolo Paganini and Camille Saint-Saens.
The Chamber Philharmonia Cologne was founded in the city whose name they bear, a city famous throughout the world for its University of Music and its musical and instrumental teaching. Generations of musicians have been trained in Cologne for many decades, and the Orchestra employs a changing cast of musicians taking its motto ‘Classical music the world over’ across the globe.
The Orchestra performs 300 shows a year around the world in the likes of New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Great Britain and Ireland. Its Cork show follows several successful European and overseas tours in 2017 and 2018.
Tickets for the St Finbarre’s Cathedral show are €20 for adults, €17 for seniors and €12 for students and children. Tickets are available from Pro Musica on Oliver Plunkett Street on 021-4271659, from the cathedral shop on Dean Street on 021-4963387.
