Catch up or get extra help with Bishopstown centre
By Eve Harrington
Does your child need some extra support with math, Irish or English? Well, look no further, Bishopstown’s After-School Primary Education Centre are now taking enrolments for the incoming year.
There continues to be a tremendous response from parents and pupils to the After-School Education Centre.
Now operating in its twelfth year, the centre provides tuition for primary and secondary school children between the ages of 6 and 14, focusing on improving English, reading, spelling, maths and Irish skills.
The centre is owned and operated by James Sexton, a fully qualified teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience. James was educated at Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh, Bishopstown and holds a B.A. degree and Higher Diploma in Education from UCC.
Your child should flourish in a learning environment where students are taught in small groups of no more than five, so that everyone can receive individual attention. As well as this, the centre is equipped with modern computer facilities, enabling students to learn using excellent English and maths software available.
A wide variety of students attend the centre each year as it caters for children who are having difficulty with their schoolwork or have fallen behind, as well as children who would like to be challenged further.
Students are offered a free assessment and provided with individual programmes of study that focus on the specific needs of each child. Pupils are then guided through their work by experienced and fully qualified teachers.
James commented that “the centre exists to support school programmes in core skills. The aim is to improve students’ overall performance…and to build pupils’ self confidence.”
Classes run from 3.30pm and 5pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings and afternoons. The centre is located in the Doughcloyne Industrial Park on Sarsfield’s Road, Wilton (very close to the Driving Test Centre).
