Oh Brexit, where art thou?
With Brexit fever reaching boiling point all over Europe, a Leeside artist is wearing his heart on his sleeve with his latest exhibition.
Cobh-based painter John Adams, who is known for producing art that often reflects political and cultural affairs, currently has two Brexit themed works on display in his exhibition in Cork Airport.
Brexit Boy and Brexit Michael each express Adams’ personal views on the political saga that has dominated headlines since British voters elected to leave the EU in 2016.
The Dublin-born virtuoso is best known for his contemporary expressionist painting and has enjoyed a long career that has seen him work in London and Spain where he painted theatre sets for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Barbican Theatre, The New Shakespeare Company, The Walt Disney Company and Expo 92, Seville.
John has been a campaigner for artists' rights and an arts events organiser in both London and Cork.
Having experimented with numerous artistic styles, he has more recently returned to more expressive paintings inspired by his imagination.
John’s paintings are in many prominent collections including the Crawford Municipal Gallery in Cork, Cork City Council, The Royal College of Surgeons and Cork City Library.
