STEM investment adds up for Nagle CS
There’s been a funding boost for the pupils of a Mahon secondary school, it was announced this week.
A bursary worth €50,000 was given to Nagle Community College to support the students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and to encourage them to pursue third level education.
It was given the bursary from the PM Group, project delivery specialists, which is located near the school.
The bursary is open to sixth year and transition year pupils over four years.
The collaboration will include the provision of laptops for each Leaving Certificate student who moves forward to third level education, with mentoring for each student who pursues STEM related courses.
Jim O’Sullivan, Principal of Nagle Community College, said: “We are delighted to partner with PM Group in supporting our sixth year and TY students as they pursue third level education. I’m particularly delighted that PM Group has committed to providing mentoring and internship opportunities for our students over the next four years. This will be critically important for them as they transition from the school environment to third level education.”
As part of the collaboration, PM Group will provide spaces on its TY programme for pupils, in addition to providing an opportunity for students to avail of internships at PM Group for those pursuing engineering courses at third level.
