€195k of drugs seized in Mallow

Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s and seized a combined total of €195,000 worth of drugs in Mallow yesterday.

The man was arrested at approximately 11.30am following an initial intelligence-led operation in Mallow town, during which gardaí seized close to €70,000 worth of suspected cannabis.

A subsequent search of a house in Quartertown at 9.30pm on the same day resulted in the seizure of a further €125,000 of suspected cannabis, bring the total to €195,000.

The searches were carried out by gardaí from the Mallow District Drugs Unit, assisted by the Armed Support Unit and the Regional Dog Unit.

The suspected cannabis herb which will now be sent for analysis.

The man who was arrested remains detained in Mallow Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
