Invite refuted
Save Cork City has said it did not receive any invite from City Hall to meet after an official said the group had been invited several times.
Head of Environment at City Hall Valerie O’Sullivan said that Save Cork City, who are lobbying against the Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme (LLFRS), had been invited to meet but that the invitation have been declined by the group.
She said: “Repeated invitations to Save Cork City (have been issued) to work with us have been refused.”
Her comment came after queries arose about City Hall spending €5,000 to promote the LLRFS.
However, when this was put to Save Cork City by the Cork Independent, a spokesperson for the group said it was never approached by City Hall.
He said: “We haven’t had any approach from the council and would gladly have attended or attend a meeting.”
