Tails wagging at The Spaw
Dog owners would have to be barking mad to miss the animal rescue charity day at The Spaw this weekend.
The self-service dog boutique is handing the keys of its operation to Cork charity HART this Friday from 12-8pm with all proceeds going to the charity.
HART, which is about to enter its most difficult time of year, is located in Charleville and is involved in rescuing animals in all parts of the country, particularly in Cork.
The Spaw, located in Douglas, has decided to help them by giving them all proceeds from their wash and dry boutique for a whole day.
Derek O’Brien of The Spaw said: “It’s a difficult time for all small businesses in Douglas since the fire in Douglas Village, but we care deeply about our clients and our clients are dogs.
“We know that all proceeds will go directly to the welfare of abandoned and abused animals. We hope it will also make people aware of the importance of cleaning your dog regularly when they see the results.”
On Friday dog owners can walk in with their furry friends, use all the state of the art facilities and leave with a clean and dry dog, with a little squirt of baby powder perfume for good measure.
The prices will remain the same as the regular Spaw prices, €10 for a wash and towel dry or €15 for a wash and power dry. There will also be raffles on the day with some great prizes.
All the proceeds will be handed to the HART volunteers before the busy Christmas season at the shelter, when volunteers will be rescuing rehabilitating and rehoming abandoned animals, each one fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped before they are adopted.
