It’s been a seriously social quarantine!
Does anyone know what date, day or time it is anymore? I certainly don’t.
I’m doing my best to add structure to my days and I must say for all my giving out, I do kind of miss the guys doing roadworks outside the house. I miss my wake up calls at 7.30am from them. Now I’m sure when they return, I’ll go back to complaining about them but for now I am feeling their absence acutely. Come back lads, all is forgiven!
Quarantine is a funny old time and some good things have come from it. I have quite literally never been so sociable while not having met anyone in person in over three weeks. Whereas before I cribbed about going out at the weekend, I am now finding it difficult to fit in all the parties happening virtually through the Zoom and House Party apps.
Friday and Saturday nights are absolutely buzzing and it’s a great excuse to get dressed up even though you aren’t leaving your house. I know people give out about social media but I am having the best chats with people on Instagram and it’s nice to have that sense of connection with other people.
I have also joined a book club which has obviously gone to virtual online meetings and I’ve met lovely new people through that as well as having some great book recommendations. I highly recommend either joining one or setting one up.
I’ve also set up my own new club with my friend Gill. Gill is my work wife and we work together on lots of fashion projects so we really wanted to keep ourselves busy and we both love music so we have created the G&T Music Club on Instagram. People suggest different albums and myself and Gill pick a new one every day.
We’ve had some great suggestions so far and it’s made me find lots of new music as well as reintroducing me to some classics that I used to love and giving me all the good memories and nostalgia feels. If you want to make suggestions or just follow along check out myself or Gill’s Instagram accounts (@natashacrowley @gillybeangirl). We pick a new album at 7pm each evening.
I must admit I’ve been slack enough with fashion and fashion news the past few days. I’m definitely finding it much easier to throw on the old leisure wear which is fine but I do feel like I need to try putting on jeans soon.
I have however become inspired by other people on Instagram who are making an effort to get dressed up and post pictures. People like Maeve from Love Cherish who styles and posts up a new dress every day or Sonia Lennon and Annmarie O’Connor who are also getting glam in quarantine.
I might just allow myself one more week of lycra though - next week I’ll be back to the glam life. Watch this space!
