Xanax seized in Blackpool

A ziplock bag full of suspected Xanax was seized this week after gardaí spotted a man who seemed unsteady on his feet.

Shortly after 4.30pm on Sunday 19 April, gardaí from Watercourse Road Garda Station were on patrol in the Blackpool area when they spotted the man.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “As gardaí walked over to check if he was okay, the man dropped a ziplock bag on the ground. Gardaí seized the bag which contained €1,200 worth of suspected Xanax tablets.”

The tablets will now be sent for analysis.

Later, a man aged in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and detained at Gurranabraher Garda Station. He has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
