Woman assaulted on city centre street

Gardaí are investigating after a woman was found unconscious in the city centre this week. 

Gardaí have confirmed that the woman was found in that condition following an assault at Railway Street on Monday night after they were alerted to it at about 9.30pm.

Emergency services attended the scene and the woman, aged in her 30s, was brought to CUH with what is believed to be serious injuries.

The scene was preserved and examined by the divisional Scenes of Crime Unit while uniform gardaí also gathered CCTV footage.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the surrounding area of Kent Railway Station, Railway Street, Alfred Street and Andersons Quay between 8-10pm, particularly road users with camera footage, to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021-4558510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.
