Make friends and learn new skills
Schools and colleges around Cork are currently preparing for the new academic year and staff at St John's Central College are no different.
The college is ready for the autumn cohort of students and has lots of new and exciting certified and leisure courses, some of which can be studied at night too.
All the Government guidelines have been stringently put in place throughout the campus to ensure a safe environment for both students and staff.
The college is offering many QQI certified courses in unusual subjects such as criminology for those of you with a taste for a good mystery, a Revit architecture course for those interested in drawing up the built environment in 3D or up-skilling your current computer aided design skills, and many more interesting and creative subjects.
On the leisure side, it has a wide variety of subjects on offer like bee keeping and beehive making, so by next summer students could be making their own honey and keeping the bees in a job!
A spokesperson said: “We have lots of practical courses on offer for all those out there who want to tap into their creative side such as stained glass, graphics, photography, fashion upcycling, jewellery making, woodwork and variety of different painting and drawing classes.
“We’ve a fully equipped hair and beauty salon that offers lots of interesting courses and a dog grooming room that offers both QQI level 5 and 6 animal grooming courses.”
There also many unusual courses also such as bicycle maintenance and repairs, motorcycle maintenance and restoration, antique furniture restoration, comic book authoring, 3D graphics, and lots of great life-changing courses like personal development and start your own business courses.
The college will be open on Saturday mornings to accommodate active retirement courses in a safe quiet environment with courses in art, crochet, keep fit, and a beginners course in internet, email and social media available in a friendly and clean environment.
