Keep it locally sourced with Bresnan's

Eating locally sourced food is very much in vogue. It’s better for the environment, better for taste as food gets to your plate more quickly and it’s better for the economy as you support local food producers.

Here in Cork, we’ve been aware of this for decades as the movement was championed by the great Mrytle Allen since the ‘70s but the rest of the world has only caught on more recently.

Bresnan’s of Douglas have long espoused this approach however and are now open again in Douglas after Douglas Village Shopping Centre re-opened recently.

The family-run business has served the people of Cork for over 120 years. After more than a year they’re back in Douglas Village Shopping Centre in a brand new shop.

Their special selling point is that their stock is produced locally on family farms which is very unusual in this day and age. They offer a quality product - you can really taste the difference!

They also trade in the English Market in Cork city along with the new shop in Douglas. Bresnan's supply to a number of high quality restaurants in the city and county, showing the appreciation for good quality produce by top chiefs.

The beef and lamb are sourced from Bresnan’s own farm and processed in their abattoir. The beef is dry aged for twenty one days plus before it is delivered to Bresnan’s shops for sale. Their lamb is dry aged for one week.

All their meats are butchered in-house by their craft butchers.
