RSA: Driving tests are for essential workers only
By Ellen O'Regan
Under Level 5 restrictions, only essential workers are permitted to attend driving test appointments.
“Adhering to the Government’s public health guidance during this challenging time is vital. Therefore, if you have a test appointment and are not an essential worker please cancel your test appointment,” said Chief Executive of the RSA, Sam Waide.
“As a non-essential worker, by cancelling your test appointment we can ensure that the service continues to operate as specified by Government and cater only for those who need it most during the current Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions. The slot can then be reassigned to someone involved in essential service and retail,” he said.
Non-essential workers with test appointments can cancel by logging on to myroadsafety.ie. Those who cancel will not lose their booking fee. It will be saved as credit to use at a later date to book another appointment. Essential workers can still apply to book a driving test at myroadsafety.ie. If there are no slots available, and a test is needed urgently, those workers can join a priority waiting list.
Essential workers travelling to a test centre to sit a driving test are exempt from Level 5 travel restrictions and it is recommended to bring proof of appointment in case of being stopped at a garda checkpoint. Test candidates will also have to prove they are an essential worker before beginning the test.
