48 new jobs for stoke service in CUH
The stroke service at CUH will soon be recruiting staff for 48 new permanent positions across multiple disciplines.
The new roles are in addition to existing stroke staffing at CUH and will support the expanding service which, according to CUH Consultant Stroke Physician Dr Liam Healy, is the busiest inpatient stroke service in Ireland.
The 48 new positions will include 21 nurses, five doctors, five physiotherapists, five occupational therapists, three speech and language therapists, two clinical neuro-psychologists, and seven additional staff.
The additional 21 nurses, 18 of which are ward nurses, will allow for a 2:1 patient to nurse ratio for the sickest patients.
Dr Healy said: “As the CUH stroke service continues to evolve to provide a regional remit to the people of Munster, these new staff will allow us to provide comprehensive stroke care for our patients from the acute stroke setting, through to inpatient stroke unit care and on towards discharge.”
Dr Healy said details of the exact recruitment process will vary according to discipline and grade and urged interested professionals to keep an eye on normal recruitment channels in the coming weeks.
The CUH stroke service consists of a newly refurbished 31 bed stroke unit, an early supported stroke discharge team and a dedicated offsite stroke rehab unit. A 24/7 stroke thrombectomy centre will also come online on 1 April.
