Find the bottomless pint!

The Pintman is back chasing pints of the black stuff and packets of 'crips' in a new 2D platformer game made by a Cork-born game designer.

‘Pintman: Escape the Lockdown’ has been in development for the past three months and sees Irish hero Pintman embark on a dangerous quest to escape the lockdown while avoiding gardaí and “de aul Covid”.

His mission is to find the fabled bottomless pint, thus ending lockdown in Ireland and allowing the pints to flow freely once more.

Reminiscent of the old Mario Brothers games, Pintman runs and jumps around a colourful 2D world, avoiding enemies and collecting pints of stout and packets of 'crips' and peanuts on his way.

According to the game’s developer, who didn't want to be named, Pintman isn’t really about any one individual although there have been some “very notable pintmen” over the years.

“Pintman is more a state of mind, one that many of us can relate to in some way or another. To be a pintman is to love company, the craic, devilment and most of all, the pints,” he said.

The game draws on the character known as pintman Paddy Losty, made famous around Ireland via YouTube in 2017 and fabled to be capable of drinking about 45 pints in two hours.

Looking ahead to when the pubs finally reopen, the developer said the resulting celebrations will be “very epic” and called on the Government to “give us that extra bank holiday so we can all fully recover”.

Until then, his message to pintmen across the country is to “keep her lit lads”.
